Coronavirus (COVID-19): what you need to do
Stay at home, keep communities safe and save lives
You must stay at home, only leaving for the following very limited purposes:
- Shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible.
- One form of exercise a day – for example, a run, walk, cycle or to walk the dog – alone or with members of your immediate household.
- Any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
- Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.
Remember:
- Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home).
- Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people.
- Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.
- Wash your hands as soon as you get home.

You might have specific skills to offer or may want to help with tasks like shopping, dog walking, collecting prescriptions and other help.

Help keep children safe
During the current COVID-19 crisis it is important that we all look out for each other, and with schools closed there are fewer people looking out for children.
If you are concerned that a child or young person is at risk of abuse or neglect then you must report those concerns.
Here’s who you should contact:
☎️ Call the Cumbria Safeguarding Hub on 0333 240 1727 or call the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000. If a child is at immediate risk of harm, call 999.
